1895 – The 1985 publication ‘A survey of Scottish brickmarks’ suggests that R & D Adam started the works around this time.

09/03/1898 – Glasgow Herald – Traveller for brick wanted. Must have a good connection in the Glasgow district. Full particulars as to salary, age and connections. Letters only to R & D Adam, brickmakers, Rutherglen.

03/08/1900 – Glasgow Herald – Blacksmith wanted – horseshoer and engineering. Apply the Manager, Rutherglen Brickworks, Rutherglen.

19/11/1900 – Glasgow Herald  – Edward Flynn v R & D Adam.

24/12/1900 – The Scotsman – Edward Flynn v R & D Adam – The Division were informed of the settlement of the action in which Edward Flynn, labourer, 19 Regent Street, Rutherglen sued R & D Adam, brick manufacturers, 57 West Campbell Street, Glasgow for £500 damages for the death of his son Edward Flynn, six years of age who on the evening of 13th July 1900 met his death by falling into a pond of hot water at the defender’s works. The boy had come with his father’s supper and it is believed that he stumbled and fell into the pond. The pursuer has accepted £75 in full of his claim.

13/03/1911 – The Scotsman – Will – Mr Robert Adam of Althea, Airdrie and of Glasgow, a partner in the firm of Messrs R & D Adam, brickmakers of Glasgow and formerly coalmaster of Cambuslang, who died on 19th March last, left a personal estate valued at £8822 in which is included his interest and share in his firm amounting to £3500.
