Caledonia 3 6

Found by Eddie McLean in Glasgow.

Caledonia Fireclay works, Paisley, Renfrewshire

Note the groove to the to left. All similar bricks had this groove too, sometimes to the front and sometime to the back.

My example looks like it has the remains of an iron bar stuck to it so perhaps this groove was used to house an iron shaft  giving it support. The brick itself its wedge shaped and would have formed an arched structure.
