Below – The Shawsrigg Glasgow brick was found on the same site as a number of Speirs Gibb and Co Paisley, Caledonia bricks. All are the same size, all are remarkably similar in frog shape frog and back, all are salt-glazed to all sides and all have the channel running from the frog to the left end margin. (Note – SBH – These bricks look like they were made by the same company but I can find no connection between Shawsrigg and Speirs Gibb and Co. So did the customer put in such a large order that neither Shawsrigg nor Speirs could make the bricks in time so the works was split between them both and both were given direct specifications that the bricks should look the same in nearly every detail?).
