Found Newmains, Morningside, North Lanarkshire

Find location would suggest Scottish origins but…

Partial brickmark but if this is, at is appears to be, a ‘normal’ sized brick then there will only be room for another 3 letters and the obvious possibility is that it states Wilson

Below- This was found by Ian Suddaby at Port Dundas. I do believe this will be the same manufacturer.

The above bricks may have been manufactured by William Wilson and Son, Campbellfield Pottery., Glasgow. He also operated the Barlinnie Fireclay Works but the fire bricks from there always appear to be stamped ‘Wilson Barlinnie’ or ‘Barlinnie’.

Below – 1852 – William Wilson and Son, Campbellfield Pottery. (Pressed fire clay bricks).
