This oddity was originally stamped S & K Co Ltd Buccleuch and then over-stamped with S & K C Ltd Sanquhar – which at least indicates that both these marks, from the many variables, were of the same era.

Below – A similar stamp on a brick found by Ian Suddaby at Sanquhar. Ian states – A wedge-shaped brick for chimneys etc made for Sanquhar & Kirkconnel Collieries Ltd at Sanquhar Brick & Tile Works, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. It’s the first of these to be found. The reverse side has the same stamp and that’s quite unusual for this company. Made between about 1910 and 1925. Found at Gateside Colliery, Sanquhar.
