Found by Alan Robertson and Nikki Seats in the Alloa area. This is a large special. It is broken on the left-hand side as you see it here. The top edge is ‘stepped’ for the full length of the brick. Alloa Brick and Tile Works, Alloa, Clackmannanshire. . . .

This Bald brick should be manufactured by Alexander Bald, Alloa Brick & Tile Works, Alloa, Clackmannanshire. All known bricks marked BALD, are accompanied by the initial ‘A’ – A. BALD. Found by Dr.-Ing. Ralph Bodenstein, Koordination Archaeological Heritage Network (ArcHerNet) – Präsidialbereich, Deutsches Archäologisches Institut, Podbielskiallee 69-71, 14195 Berlin. Dr Bodenstein states – “I have found bricks bearing the stamp “A. BALD, ALLOA” in Cairo, Egypt.
