This brick may look broken but it is not. It is moulded in this way so that the showing face looks like stone.

Found by Nick Shaw in the Dingwall area. These appear to have been manufactured from a concrete /cement mix. The manufacturer is unknown but find the location would suggest Scottish origins but … Due to the find location, it is possible they were made at the Lairg Quarry and Brick Company Ltd, Lairg, Sutherland. ….

This company appears to have been a subsidiary of Redland Tiles Limited, Cowie and may well have operated from the same site. They manufactured cement-based roofing tiles. 27/04/1998 – Incorporated. 21/01/2011 – Dissolution date.
