R & C

Found at the Gartliston Works.

I have only ever found R & C bricks at the Hurll Gartliston or Garnqueen works in Glenboig and as such I am, until proven otherwise, happy to identify Hurll as the maker.

I do believe this is yet another example of a Scottish brick manufacturer making bricks for a customer and adding the customer’s name to the product and I believe it stands for Reichmann and Co.  This company were iron merchants and Alexander Hurll was co-owner of the company.
