Drainage tiles found in Northumbria.

The following were all found near Eshott and Bockenfield Northumbria.

The manufacturer of each is unknown but more than likely they will be products of Northumbrian tile works.

Below – 13″ x 3″ outside diameter

Below – 12 1/2″ long, 3″ x 3″. This is very mishapen and also sports a thumb and 3 x fingerprints.

Below – 14 1/2 ” long, 5″ high, 4 1/2 ” wide at base. Internal width at base 3 1/2″

Below – 2 x pipe drains slightly bigger than pencil drains. 12″ x 2 1/2″ outside diameter.

Below – 14.5″ long x 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″. Horseshoe drainage tile and clay pads or soles. The soles would sit under the pipe joints.

Below – Unknown length as broken , 7 1/2″  high. Flat base is 5 1/2″ wide and inside widest width of bore is 6″

Below – 2 hexagonal drainage pipes.

One is marked Phorpres which is a tademark of the London Brick Company.

No doubt the other is by the same manufacturer although it is not marked.

Left tile – 12″ x 4″

Below – 13 1/2″ long, 3 1/4″ high, 2 3/4″ wide and 3″ wide base.
