Knowehead Tileworks near Irvine aka Muirhead Tileworks. (Note – SBH – I believe Knowehead and Muirhead were one of the same).
1855 – 1857 – ScotlandsPlaces – Knowehead Tileworks. These works are on the property of Robert Reid and were erected some 20 years ago to supply the neighbouring farmers with drain & roofing tiles.

1858 – Mineral Statistics of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland for 1858 – A kiln exists at Knowhead, Stewarton and tiles &c are manufactured there.
09/09/1865 – Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald – Tilework to let. For such a period as may be agreed on. Muirhead Tilework, Parish of Irvine. 26/05/1866 – Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald – Notice to farmers – McLymont and Alexander beg to intimate that, having taken a lease of Knowehead Tilework, they are prepared to receive orders for tiles, which will be executed with promptitude and despatch. 29/07/1871 – Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald – Muirhead Tileworks, Irvine. Pipe tiles of all sizes from 2 to 6 inches, also open tiles and soles all sizes at moderate prices. Orders sent to Thos. Alexander at the works will receive prompt attention.
