Glenboig Starworks bricks found in Maine, USA

Found by Swede Plaut at 98 Hale’s Hill Rd., Sedgwick, Maine USA. Swede states – I recently bought a piece of land and while doing some cleanup I uncovered these. They were at the surface, buried under plant matter. There is no record of any previous construction on this site. I am told that the adjacent Thurston’s Mill Brook (now known as Meadow Brook) once supported the Thurston’s Mill Brickworks but I have yet to see a brick or find any reference to the industry. I have much to learn about this area having just moved to the region. There are few structures in this area that used bricks in their construction. Granite is much more prevalent as the area is (or was) quite famous for its quarries.

  • Glenboig Fireclay Works, (Old Works) Glenboig, Lanarkshire
