Gartliston bricks found in St Petersburg, Russia
The following 2 bricks were found in St Petersburg, Russia and form part of Vladimir Smirnov’s collection.
Both bricks were found in downtown Saint Petersburg. The upper brick was used in the furnace of the machine-building plant “Arsenal”
Hurlls Brick Works Gartliston
and
Fire Brick Works PH Gartliston – with crossed hammers in the centre. (PH – Peter Hurll). Note the thumbprint to top right.
Garnqueen Fireclay Works, Glenboig, Lanarkshire
