Alena states ” I was taking pictures of our original coal burning fireplace and it caught my interest! Our house was built in Rural Nova Scotia (Millsville / Scotsburn) in 1886 by the Young family. Could these be Gartcraig bricks? One is upright one the left-hand side and the other is upside down on the right-hand side (picture flipped).”

All the bricks present were fire bricks and included English manufacturers such as Ruffors of Stourbridge, Cowen of Newcastle and Duddell of Fenton. 90% of the bricks present appear to have been stamped ‘Glenboig’….
