Below – The same stamp on a salt-glazed fireclay water or sewer pipe junction. Found by Ian Suddaby. (This is not in my possession). Ian states  – Another piece of fireclay drainage ware. This allows a c.6″ diameter pipe to join half a c.12″ diameter pipe with a double socket connection. I have several catalogues of fireclay drainage products and none of them includes anything identical to this. Pity I didn’t have a tape measure with me. It was made by Robert Brown at Ferguslie Fireclay Works in Paisley and the stamp dates this to before 1867 when Robert Brown’s son joined the company and the name changed to Robert Brown & Son. Seen in Dalkeith, Midlothian.
