Found Gartliston Works, Glenboig.
FCS MA1 or could be MAI.
Unidentified manufacturer but there will be little doubt that this is a Hurll product.
I believe it was also manufactured for the Ferrocarril del Sud, a railway in Argentina. (FCS) – I do not know what the MA1 stands for.

Many thanks to Gustavo Coronel for the following information. This ‘Crater’ brick was found in lime kiln furnace No 5, Malagueño, Córdoba, Argentina. Gustavo states that bricks stamped ‘Etna’ were also found lining the furnace but no photograph is available as yet. Manufactured by the Etna or Atlas Brickworks, Armadale, West Lothian. . . ….
