10/01/1845 – Kelso Chronicle – Contractors wanted for making about 114 roods of new road to the brick and tile work at Cowdenknows. Specifications will be seen in the hands of Mr White, Cowdenknows or with Mr Mitchell, surveyor, Melrose.

03/07/1846 – Kelso Chronicle –  Bricks and Tiles – For sale – At Cowdenknows brick and tile works. All sizes of drain tiles, roofing tiles and bricks. They are of the best quality and will give general satisfaction. Cowdenknows 17/06/1846.

16/04/1847 – Kelso Chronicle – Drain tiles for sale. A considerable quantity of drain tiles of excellent quality are ready for sale and delivery at Cowdenknowes Tile Work. Melrose 08/04/1847.
