Scottish sample fire bricks found in Tasmania.

Charlie states – My great-grandfather worked at the Beaconsfield and Lefroy gold mines in Tasmania. He was an assayer. Some of the bricks are still in their original boxes and have been stored in a shed for decades.

Below – This ‘MR 60’ fire brick had been kept alongside the ‘Nettle’ bricks and is also believed to be a sample brick. It is not boxed. MR – Morgan Refractories and the 60 may represent 60% Alumina content.
