Overton Colliery Brickwork, Stewarton, East Ayrshire

11/08/1856 – Glasgow Herald – Wanted, a fire brick maker and burner. To a suitable person constant work will be given during the winter. Wages from 16s. to 18s. per week. Apply to Messrs. James Robertson & Co., Overton Colliery, by Stewarton Station.

20/02/1858 – Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald – Going colliery in Ayrshire to be let. The colliery at Overton, in the Parish of Dreghorn, adjoining the Stewarton Station of the Glasgow and South-Western Railway, to be let, immediately, together with a seam of fire clay of the best quality. An excellent H. P. steam engine and other plant, together with colliers’ houses, clay mill, and Kilns, to be had at a valuation.
