The following 3 examples of clay fired firebacks were found in the woodland surrounding the Carron Ironworks, Falkirk. They have no identifiable stamp but I believe they will have been manufactured by The Carron Co for their extensive range of stoves, cookers and ranges. This appears to be some sort of stable or byre block for the flooring. It is 2″ thick
From top clockwise to middle it appears to say – IV – 23 – L – B – 8 – Rd.

Following the codes on the above link, this mark suggests that the product is ceramic and it was registered on 23 October 1882 and there were 8 items included in the registration.
