Below – A brick showing the irregularities caused by a stone in the mix. This was found near Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders.

Below – A brick found at the old Jedfoot Bridge Station railway platform situated at Bonjedward / Mounthooly Jedburgh.

The brick appears to have ‘blown’ out on the left hand side during firing.
