Evidence of poor quality bricks and misfiring within the kiln.

Below – A brick showing the irregularities caused by a stone in the mix. This was found near Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders.


Below – A brick found at the old Jedfoot Bridge Station railway platform situated at Bonjedward/Mounthooly Jedburgh.

The brick appears to have ‘blown’ out on the left-hand side during firing.
