Arniston 1864
— 29/09/2021Found by Alain Magee near St Boswells. This example is not in my possession. Arniston Coal, Lime & Brick Works, Gorebridge, Midlothian. . . . .
Found Bonnyside, Bonnybridge.
11″ square base. 7″ high at either shoulder and 9″ high in the centre.
I believe DRLC possibly stands for Dyson Refractories Limited Company (although Company Limited is the normal arrangement) – Dyson owned the site where the was found (East works) and as such I believe this was made in Bonnybridge. Dyson were still producing on 21/03/1989.
As yet I do not know what the AW stands for unless it was the customer’s initials or indeed the individual who moulded the special.
