(Note : SBH – This clay field may never have been exploited.)

23/04/1946 – The Scotsman – Industrial development of Argyll – Important industrial developments are expected to result from surveys which have just been completed of limestone deposits at the northern end of the Island of Lismore and of the terra-cotta clay deposits at Shian, in North Argyll. A group of business men interested in the development of the natural resources of the West Highlands, it was stated yesterday , are considering the possibility of utilising the lime for agricultural purposes, and the clay which covers an area of 200 acres—for the manufacture of bricks . If the proposals materialise, new industries will be set up in the district.
