Bankpark 4F6

Found by Ian Suddaby in Leith, Edinburgh.

This example is not in my possession.

Ian states – It is a circle or arc brick forming part of a structure 4’6″ in diameter. Maybe the base of a chimney or part of a furnace. Why is it interesting? To my knowledge it’s the first Bankpark circle brick ever found and the first Bankpark firebrick with numbers on too. So a significant discovery. This will be part of a whole series of Bankpark firebricks that for some reason have completely avoided detection until now. A fragment of another brick stamped 5Ft6 was also recovered.

Bank Park Fireclay Works, Tranent, East Lothian.
