Drumbain Brick & Tileworks, Dipple, Ayrshire
1855 – 1857 – ScotlandsPlaces – Dipple Tileworks. A tile and brickworks constructed in the year 1840. The works are carried on by a foreman appointed by the Marquis of Ailsa who is both proprietor and occupier.

08/11/1873 – Paisley Herald – Marriage … Robert Andrews, Ironmonger, Argyll Street to Annie L. McGowan, eldest daughter of William McGowan, late of Drumbrian Brick and Tile Works, Kirkeswald, Ayrshire.

1908 – Marked as disused but this next entry is confusing with regards the dates?
26/01/1914 – Invoice – Dipple Tileworks Limited, manufacturers of bricks, drain pipes, tiles &c. Registered office Grange Place, Kilmarnock. Works Dipple near Girvan.
29/09/1917 – Hamilton Advertiser – Shirlaw Allan & Co, Auctioneers, Hamilton – on an early day – At Dipple Tileworks, Dipple by Girvan. Plant machinery and buildings.
08/11/1918 – Edinburgh Gazette – Dipple Tileworks in liquidation.
Dipple Tileworks Limited (in Liquidation). Notice is hereby given, in pursuance of Section 195 of the Companies (Consolidation) Act, 1908, that a General Meeting of the Members
of the above-named Company will be held at the Office of the Liquidator, 86 St. Vincent Street, Glasgow, on Wednesday the 11th day of December next, at 11 o’clock forenoon, for the purpose
of having an account laid before them, showing the manner which the winding-up has been conducted and the property of the Company disposed of, and of hearing any explanation that
may be given by the Liquidator. Dated this 6th day of November 1918.

Found on the site of the old Manuel Works, Whitecross. The manufacturer of this brick is unknown but it is highly likely it was made at the Manuel Works. Note the fingerprints. 18 or 81? The bricks found so far weigh between 3.1 and 3.5kg . . . . . Below – The same brick…
