21/08/1854 – Glasgow Herald – Ground near Parkhead to be feued and ground for brickfields to be let. To be feued, those parts of the Estate of Carntyne, lying in the immediate vicinity of Messrs Napiers Forge and adjacent to the road from Glasgow to Edinburgh by Duke Street. Those parts of the lands are situated within a short distance of Duke Street and Gallowgate Street and as a stream of water passes through them they are well adapted for the erection of a public works. From their contiguity to Messrs Napier’s Forge and other public works in the locality, they are well situated for the erection of workmen s houses. The ground will also be let for brickfields in that part of the Estate called Burnshill and on both sides of the Edinburgh to Glasgow Road. Apply … To Mr Brown, Manager at Westmuir Colliery. 14/02/1856 – Stirling Observer – Storm damage Glasgow – A chimney stack fell at Hodge and McDonald’s Brickwork, Westmuir, Parkhead.

1873 – 1874 – Thomas Nisbet, quarrier and brickmaker, Westmuir Quarry, Parkhead. House 2 East Hamilton Street.
