Below – The same stamp on bricks found by Ian Suddaby in a flytipping pile near Edinburgh. Ian states – These bricks aren’t common at all but all of the ones in this dump have been stabbed with a 2 pronged implement on one bed face. First time I’ve ever seen implement marks on Hunter bricks. The ones on the back are still fresh but the ones on the front were made before the brick was pressed and the frog added so they’re flattened and the holes partly closed. Why were this batch lifted and moved between the moulding and the stamping? We’ll probably never know but they weren’t subsequently mixed with other batches anyway. Were they all seconds for some reason?
