Unidentified special shape

This was found at the old Ravenscraig Steelworks, Motherwell.

The product is made of fire clay and measures 4″ long by 3″ wide.

A hole goes all the way through from end to end. At one end the hole is stepped down in size and has concentric rings cut into it. The rings are not complete and have a solid ‘end’ – the same was seen on two other similar examples left on site. The product is not stamped.
