19/3/1879 – Glasgow Herald – Brickfield to let at Springburn with engine, pans and the whole necessary machinery and plant in good working order. Apply to Kerr and Fleming, writers, 98 Bath Street, Glasgow.

19/05/1879 – Glasgow Evening Post  – Glasgow Bankruptcy Court  – The adjourned examination of William McAdam, bottle and earthenware manufacturer, Glasgow took place today … In 1875 he feued property in Glebe Street – 7,350 yards at a feu duty of £410 10 s – for the purpose of making bricks from waste material. He thought he required all the ground he took. He was not able, contrary to his expectations, to make the bricks successfully … (Note – SBH – This is an early reference to an attempt to use waste (bing waste?) to make bricks)

24/05/1879 – Glasgow Herald – Glasgow Bankruptcy Court.  Adjourned examination of William McAdam, a bankrupt earthenware bottle maker in Hydepark Street, Glasgow. The bankrupt deponed … I think I acquired the Springburn property in 1874 … immediately after feuing the ground I put up a shed for making bricks … all the cash I got in for making bricks and earthenware made at Springburn was £312 …

(Note – SBH – I am uncertain if the above 3 ‘McAdam’ entries are references to the Springburn Brickworks. Recorded here meantime).

07/11/1892 – Glasgow Herald – For sale, 15″ horizontal engine. Can be seen working. A bargain. George Weir, Springburn Brickworks.
