Annfield Pottery, Brick and Tile Works, Duke Street, Glasgow

(Note – SBH –  Until I can confirm otherwise, I have called these works the Annfield Pottery, Brick and Tile Works)

Parkhead History … At one time there was some brick making on a portion of the grounds, and Mr Thomson (hence Thomson Street), of Annfield Pottery, took all the clay from the Annfield portion for the making of his coarser ware …

06/11/1826 – Glasgow Herald – To brick and tile makers. To let, for one or more years on moderate terms and warranted to have sufficient supply of water. One or two tables for brick and tile making. The clay lies adjoining to the lands of Annfield and is ascertained to be of the first quality. Apply to Donald Cuthbertson, 242 George Street or the proprietor at Annfield House.

09/12/1841 – Bradford Observer – Scotch sequestrations – Robert Russell, Annfield, near Glasgow,  Brickmaker. Nov 29, Dec 20.

03/09/1846 – Caledonian Mercury – Creditors of Robert Russell, brickmaker and builder in Glasgow to meet in the writing rooms of Mr James Monteath, St Vincent Street Place, 18th September, twelve o’clock.

1849 – 1850 – Robert Barr, brickmaker and builder. Works Annfield, Duke Street, Glasgow. House 179 Argyll Street.

1852 – Robert Barr, brickmaker, 179 Argyll Street, Glasgow. Works – Annfield.

Below – 1858 – Annfield Pottery. The brickworks are possibly finished by this time.
