Found at the site of the old Etna and Atlas Brickworks, Bathville, West Lothian.

The manufacturer is unknown but highly likely to be a product of either the Atlas or Etna Brickworks.

Found alongside Etna building bricks Atlas and Crater stamped fire bricks.

It is very likely that this brickmark is incomplete.

It is entirely possible that Lasall? Is it the name of an overseas customer. Could it read ‘Lasalle’?

Many Etna and Atlas manufactured bricks ended up in the South Americas, including Argentina. In the 1885 directory for the City of Buenos Aires, there is recorded an importer by the name of Lassalle, J. é Hijos, 81 Mayo Street. (Note – SBH – I know its a very longshot but I wonder if Lassalle imported bricks and could this brick have been manufactured in his name albeit it has been wrongly spelt)
