Glenboig A 3 P

Found by Ian Suddaby in Perth.

Ian states – A special shape probably for a coal gas works made by the Glenboig Company in North Lanarkshire. Two of the sides have grooves so the next row of blocks can be seated securely. It’s 16″ long, 8″ tall and 3″ thick. The A3 might tell the constructors where in the structure the block went. The P on the end might, at a guess, be its destination/customer as it was found near Perth Gasworks.

This example is not in my possession.

Glenboig Union Fireclay Company, Glenboig, Lanarkshire.

Alternative brickworks include:

  • Glenboig Star Fireclay Works, Glenboig, Lanarkshire.
  • Glenboig Fireclay Works, (Old Works) Glenboig, Lanarkshire
