Glenboig *

This salt-glazed pipe is in the possession of Ian Suddaby and was recovered in Edinburgh.

Ian states – “It’s very interesting. The mark on the side is GLENBOIG * and it might therefore have been made in the Starworks at Glenboig, North Lanarkshire. I presume they made pipes as well as bricks. It’s the first pipe I’ve seen with the * on it and the first pipe with a plain GLENBOIG name too, all the others say GLENBOIG COY CUMBERNAULD and I presume will be more recent than this one. I’ve included a GLENBOIG * brick at the end too, both have the 7 point stars, other numbers of points exist. 3 feet long and 5 inches internal diameter”
