Gartcraig bricks found in Boston, USA

Source – Arthur H Vinal in his book Edmund March Wheelwright and the chestnut hill, suggests that Wheelwright, Architect, used Gartcraig bricks in several buildings.

“Wheelwright experimented with the pale yellow Scottish firebricks that he used back to front to expose the random black streaking from the kiln, as for instance in the palatial Larz Anderson ‘Weld’ Estate Carriage House, the Brighton Police House, The Williams school, and Ashmont Firehouse. (Boston).
