Forged Glenboig brick found in Russia

The brick was found in the territory of an old sugar factory near Belgorod (close to the Ukrainian border) together with bricks from the Ukrainian region. Many thanks to Vladimir Smirnov for sending the photo and details.

The stamp reads ‘ALA GLENBOIG’. Note the elongated letter ‘I’. “ALA” is French for ‘ in the manner of’ or ‘according to’. Vladimir states this phrase is used in Russia too. So this stamp appears to infer that the brick has been made and stamped as a Glenboig brick.

It is very likely that this is another example of a forged or counterfeit Glenboig brick.
