1841 – 1842 – John Adam, Builder, brick, tile and pottery works, roman cement, charcoal, coal dust and British gum manufacturer and general grinder, Gallowmuir, 206 Duke Street, House ditto. (page 21).

22/01/1846 – Stirling Observer  – Tile Burner wanted  – A man who is thoroughly acquainted with burning drain tiles etc for a Work in Perthshire. He may have the making and turning them out by the thousand if he wishes. None need apply but such as can produce satisfactorily references as to abilities and sobriety etc. Apply to Mr John Ferguson, Port Street, Stirling or to Mr John Adam, 206 Duke Street, Glasgow.

16/08/1850 – Glasgow Herald – An advert for land for sale on the south side of Duke Street, Glasgow – refers to being bounded on the west side by Mr John Adam, Brick and Tile Maker …

14/03/1851 – Glasgow Herald – For Sale – Building materials, high-pressure steam engine about 6hp with steam boiler etc at Bothwell Tileworks; 70,000 bricks, 13,000 house tiles with couples, rafters and beams; and upwards of a thousand linear yards of sarking 14″ broad and 5/8″ thick, and dwelling houses with a with number of articles connected with the tilework; the whole nearly as good as new.
