10/01/1845 – Kelso Chronicle – Contractors wanted for making about 114 roods of a new road to the brick and tile work at Cowdenknows. Specifications will be seen in the hands of Mr White, Cowdenknows or with Mr Mitchell, surveyor, Melrose.

03/07/1846 – Kelso Chronicle –  Bricks and Tiles – For sale – At Cowdenknows Brick and Tile Works. All sizes of drain tiles, roofing tiles and bricks. They are of the best quality and will give general satisfaction. Cowdenknows 17/06/1846.

16/04/1847 – Kelso Chronicle – Drain tiles for sale. A considerable quantity of drain tiles of excellent quality are ready for sale and delivery at Cowdenknowes Tilework. Melrose 08/04/1847.
