21/03/1874 – Wishaw Press – A woman residing at Omoa Square, Cleland, named Mary McManus, met with a severe accident on Saturday last, at Chapelknowe Brickworks. She was sent into the engine-house for a piece of wood, and while there the connecting belt caught her arm and pulled her amongst the machinery. Before she could be extricated her right arm, back, and other parts of her body were fearfully lacerated.

25/06/1881 – Wishaw Press – Marriage. At Orchard Place, Wishaw on the 22nd inst, by the Rev R.S. Bruce, William McMillan, Chapelnowe Brickworks to Mary Gibb, daughter of Mr John Watt, builder.

05/01/1888 – Edinburgh Evening News – At Hamilton Sheriff Court yesterday, Thomas Reid, gamekeeper, Cleland House was tried summarily and convicted for assaulting a tramp at Chapelknowe Brickwork and fined £2 or 14 days in imprisonment.
