Found in East Ayrshire.

By the placement of the surname in the frog, it appears there is probably an initial missing. This is likely to be ‘R’ for Robert.

Robert Boyle had brick and tile works at Drongan Pottery, Fort Street Tileworks, Bank Tileworks and Hole Tileworks which were all situated in Ayrshire.

Below – This brick found by Ian Suddaby in Ayrshire confirms the missing letter is ‘R’. It was found at New Cumnock, Ayrshire in a house/farm that was occupied in the 1850s and might have been associated with Craigdullyeart Limeworks.
