APSLAG -The manufacturer is uncertain but the bricks may have been made by the Anglo-Persian Oil Co. using Scottish shale oil slag.

Below – 07/03/1934 – Yorkshire Post – It appears the Anglo-Persian Oil Co. ((AP) were experimenting making bricks using Scottish waste slag. This is definitely a possible manufacturer for these ‘APSLAG’ bricks. (Thanks to ‘Ginger Ben’ for this information).

(Note – SBH – The 1985 publication ‘A survey of Scottish brickmarks’ suggests these were two different brickworks albeit they were situated very close together….
These two balls were found at the Manuel Works, Whitecross during ground levelling activities. They measure 9″ in diameter which is about ¼” larger than a football.
