Scotia

Found Barrhead, Glasgow.

Unidentified maker.

The name is Scottish in appearance but its origins are in doubt.

Possibility – There is a Scotia & Sneyd Green Brick & Marl Co Ltd, Scotia Bank, Tunstall, close to the site of the old Scotia Colliery. This company is listed in the 1907 trade directory.

.

Below – The exact same stamp on a much redder brick. This may simply be due to it being used ( and found) at the old Mossend Iron and Steel Works site near Glasgow. I have kept it for interest sake.
